Wednesday, December 22, 1915. Hartmannswillerkopf ends.

On the left is M.R. Pankratrte of Company A, 22nd US Infantry, Douglas, Arizona.  On the right is Montes Simon, of the 20th Batallion de Siniloy, 3rd Company, Mexican Army, Agua Prieta.  The U.S. soldier is carrying a M1903 Springfield Rifle and appears to be carrying the usual compliment of ammunition, 80 rounds.  The Mexican soldier is armed with a G98 and a large frame revolver, probably a Cold New Service, and is carrying a huge amount of ammunition.

The Battle of Hartmannswillerkopf ended indecisively.

British motor boats HMS Mimi and Toutou were launched from the lake port of Kalemie, Belgian Congo onto Lake Tanganyika.

Tuesday, December 21, 1915. Fighting at Hartmannswillerkopf.

The French resumed attacks at Hartmannswillerkopf.

The British hospital ship SS Huntly, which had been the German hospital ship Ophelia, was sunk in the English Channel by the UB-10.

Shackleton ordered a march to the Paulet Island for the second time.

The Rocky Mountain News reported that things were not going well for Pancho Villa.

Tuesday, April 6, 1915. The Battle of Celaya commences.

The Battle of Celaya commenced  which would see Constitutionalist under Álvaro Obregón repelled Pancho Villa's attack at Celaya.  

It was a large-scale battle, with 15,000 Constitutionalist contesting 22,000 Villistas.  Obregón had arrived early to prepare defensive positions over which Villa would attempt blind cavalry charges to his defeat.

A French attempt to take German defense positions on the lower slopes of the Hartmannswillerkopf failed.

Friday, January 22, 1915. Similar strategies.

French troops on Hartmannswillerkopf summit in Alsace surrendered while Allies cut off food and water to German defenders on Mora mountain in German Cameroon.

A train from Guadalajara, Mexico derailed and plunged into a canyon, killing resulting in the deaths of over 600 passengers.

Oddly enough, on the same day this train carrying Carranza's troops was photographed.
