Martin Luther quit wearing his Augustinian habit symbolically breaking his ties with the monastic order of which he had been a part.

He had been excommunicated from the Church three years prior.

Saint Cajetan, Giampietro Caraffa, later Pope Paul IV, Bonifacio De Colle and Paolo Consiglieri founded the Order of Clerics Regular, Theatine.

An expedition under Giovanni da Verrazzano anchored off the coast of North Carolina.  It was the first European exploration of the Carolina coast and was done on behalf of King Francis I of France.

On a later expedition, he'd be killed and eaten by Carib's.
