This one has been in draft for years. I just never got around to posting it, and kept adding to it.

A minor page, but a new feature:

M65 Field Jackets in the wild.

I really like the M65 Field Jacket, which is no doubt obvious. I've posted on them, and their ancestors, before. I've owned quite a few of them over the years, indeed probably back to age 15 or so. I have an assortment of them now.

They're not as warm as some other options, I freely admit. Getting a Carhartt coat as a gift from my wife when we were first married was a revelation, it was so much warmer. Still, with all the pockets, and whatnot, the M65 is a great military jacket.

This blog has gotten more active than it was originally, as more original posts are now included here. Originally, it was just a feed for Agrarian topics from Lex Anteinternet. Showing, I suppose, that this is more active, this page is visible on that blog as well.

Both the Killetarian Cookbook and Cast Iron have been updated with the same entry, the same being orange stuffed roasts duck. April 3, 2022.

Sometime during the last twenty four hours, there were two hits on an old Wyoming Cheese Steak item from the main site. I realized I hadn't linked that old thread over to the Killetarian Cookbook, even though the recipe was there, so I added it. April 27, 2022.

Yeoman's Laws of Behavior

Yeoman's Eighteenth Law of Behavior: Some people like secrets (and some people do not).

This is an odd one to me, as I'm not in that category. I despise secrets. Therefore, I'm in the opposite camp.

Secrets are necessary. It's just part of the way the world works, in certain things. Lawyers keep a lot of secrets all the time. Governments do as well. The Seal of the Confessional binds priests to keep secrets, but also those who overhear confessions by accident. All secrets, however, are a burden upon the people who are entrusted to keep them.

Which is why personally I don't like them, if they aren't necessary.

But some people love making things secret, and often for no logical reason at all. They'll entrust all kinds of information to another on the basis that "this is a secret".

In some routine, common interactions, I understand that. People entrust medical information, financial information, or just personal information, to others as they need and desire their participation in a matter, but also desire it to be confidential for some personal reason. I'm not referencing that, however. Some people simply like secrets.

Indeed, I'm familiar with an instance in which a group of siblings routinely make things secret. Why? No idea. They just like things being secrets, I guess. The secrets are always of a nature that they cannot be kept long term, however, and they always blow up at a point late in the day when their revelation comes forward. This is related, I think, to the next item.

The problem, FWIW, of unnecessary secrets is that they are amongst those most likely to compel a person to lie, that being in part the person that is entrusted with the news. "Did you hear that Dick and Jane are going to Hawaii on vacation?. . . Um. . . . " Lying itself is a burden, and to Apostolic Christians, a sin.

For those in the opposite camp, who are often those who are highly reliable with secrets, it's all a burden.

Yeoman's Nineteenth Law of Behavior: Some people like drama in their lives, and will create it is its absent.

Everyone is burdened or blessed with some drama, the burden or the blessing being dependent upon the nature of the drama. But some people so enjoy drama, that they'll create if it is absent.

Everyone has seen somebody whose life is a constant swirl of personal drama. It's one thing to be born into a problem of evolve into it, but if a person constantly has interpersonal drama, it's likely they're creating it.

The question of why is an existential question, but the behavior is fairly apparent. If a person lives a life that resembles the members of the cast of Vanderpump Rules, at least in their telling, they're likely writing their script that way.

Page (and Blog) Updates for 2021

We've been really bad about updating the pages and features of this blog for one reason or another, but there have been a few recently, so we'll start off this thread by noting those.

One rather obvious thing is we reformatted the layout. Now items appear on the left margin as well as the right. The reason is that the items linked in have grown so large that they trail out beyond the posts, no matter what we do. They still do, but not as severely.

We also culled a bunch of the linked in blogs on the right. Some are just gone, mostly due to the links being dysfunctional, but many others now are down in the inactive blog list. Some blogs just stop, and that's where the links to those are.

We also fixed some links that weren't working. Turned out a few blogs linked in at the right actually update regularly, but their links were incorrect, so their content was being missed.

Hmmm. . I really need to update the pages around here. Indeed, I know that I've put up piles of posters on the main site, for one thing, I know that I need to add to the collections.

13. With the help of reader input, particularly that of Rich, the uploading problem here has been cured by changing the format of the "Labels" gadgets that list topics here from a cloud to a list.

I liked the cloud better as it more easily showed what has been posted on here most often, but apparently it grew too big for Google Chrome. If Chrome is later able to digest it, I'll go back to it, but it's a simple list now.

While that was going on some other changes were made, mostly detrimental, trying to see if a fix could be found. I'm trying to unring the bell on those, but restoring the calendar, which links into Today Day In Wyoming's History is proving to be difficult.
