The Spanish Army attempted to make an amphibious landing at Alhucemas Bay at Spanish Morocco.  It was a complete and disastrous failure.

General Maurizio Ferrante Gonzaga was appointed by Prime Minister Mussolini as the Commandant-General of the Fascist Party's Voluntary Militia for National Security (MSVN),  the "Blackshirts".

British troops fired on Chinese protesters at Shanghai.

Thursday, January 29, 1925. 裁軍 and Flapper Fanny.

About 20 people were killed when  representatives of the Fengtian Clique met resistance attempting to disarm about 1,000 defeated Jiangsu troops, who apparently weren't quite as defeated as thought.

Flapper Fanny Says was on day three of its new syndicated run.  The cartoon would run until 1940, during which time Fanny ceased being a flapper.  It had two different cartoonist illustrate it, both of them women.

Russian mercenaries captured Shanghai for the Fengtian clique.

Displaced Russian military forces were a menace in China for some time.  The refugee population was relatively large, and there's still a population of Russians in China.

Mrs. Bertha Shelton, March 28, 1922.  No, I don't know who she was, or why she was photographed.

To would be Korean assassins attempted to kill the former Japanese Minister of War Tanaka Giichi as he disembarked a ship in Shanghai, but missed and instead killed an American woman.

In Berlin a would be assassin attempted to kill former Russian Foreign Minister Pavel Milyukov at a gathering of Russian exiles.  He missed and killed Vladimier D. Nabakov, the father of the author by that name who is famous for the novel Lolita, which I've never read.  The assassin, Sergey Vladimirovich Taboritsky, was a Russian untranationalist and monarchist who would go on to be a Nazi during in the Third Reich. He survived the war and died in 1980 at age 83.
