Saturday, October 26, 1901. Depositing the proceeds of a train robbery.

Della Moore, girlfriend of the Wild Bunch's Kid Curry Logan, was arrested in Nashville, Tennessee, after she attempted to deposit thousands of dollars in cash at the Fourth National Bank of Nashville.

The teller consulted a list of serial numbers of stolen bills and confirmed that the money was part of the $41,000 taken in a train robbery near Wagner, Montana on July 3.

Her subsequent life is not well known.  Having taken up prostitution at about age 15, she'd left it by this time, but at least temporarily resumed it after being released from prison. She seems to have died in 1926 at about 45 years of age.

This event demonstrates the extent to which at least some people traveled much further than we might supposed in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.  The money she was depositing had been stolen almost clear across the country.

Russia announced it had reached an agreement with China on Manchurian concessions.

March 1, 1941. The Free French in North Africa, the Chinese in Henan, Himmler at Auschwitz, FM Radio.

British Commonwealth and Free French forces, the latter technically in rebellion against the legal government of their country, took Kufra in Libya.

The Free French had been organized as an entity in June, 1940.  In North Africa FFF units were fighting alongside the British Commonwealth forces even as the colonial administration of much of the French Empire in Africa remained loyal to the legal government in Vichy, making for an interesting quasi civil war aspect to the fighting there.

In China, the Battle of South Henan saw a victory for the Chinese National Revolutionary Army, or as normally referred to, the Nationalist.

Heinrich Himmler, head of the German SS organization, visited Auschwitz and ordered it expanded in order to take an additional 30,000 prisoners.  Orders were also given for the construction of another camp nearby designed to take 100,000 Soviet prisoners.

Bulgaria signed the Tripartite Pact and became part of the Axis.  You can read more on that here:

Also in that item, you ca read about the creators of the Captain American cartoon requiring and receiving police protection.

W47NV (also mentioned above) started commercial FM radio broadcasting, becoming the first radio station to do so.  The station still exists, and is located, perhaps predictably, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Sunday, July 26, 1914. Running guns.

The United Kingdom's offer to mediate the point of pride crisis between Austro Hungaria, Germany, Serbia and Russia was rejected by Germany and Russia.

Mary Spring Rice and Molly Childers aboard the Childeres yacht Asgard during the deluded Howth gun-running

Erskine Childers and Molly Childers landed over 1,000 firearm's into Ireland from Childer's yacht.  The event resulted in gunfire and bayonet prods upon Irish Volunteers.

The rifles were obsolete G71s.  Had they been deployed in combat, they would have been hopelessly obsolete.

The Albanian Assembly of Delvino was dissolved.

And so Europe hurtled towards war.  Continental Europe over a point of pride and who Seriba should be aligned to. Great Britain on who Ulster should be loyal to.
