Friday, April 21, 1876. The Turf Protection Act.

The House of Representatives passed the Turf Protection Act banning the use of White House grounds as playgrounds.  It was directed specifically at the annual Easter Egg Roll which traditionally occurred on Easter Monday.

Easter Monday had been on April 17 and apparently Congress was upset about the damage to the law.
