Ostensibly exploring the practice of law before the internet. Heck, before good highways for that matter.

Sunday Morning Scene: Churches of the West: St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Worland Wyoming
Churches of the West: St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Worland Wyoming:
This church was a bit of a surprise as I wasn't aware there was a Greek Orthodox Church in Worland. I don't know anything else about it. The structure is interesting as it's sort of a modified Prairie Gothic structure.

Churches of the West: First Baptist Church, Worland Wyoming:
This is the First Baptist Church in Worland Wyoming. I"m not entirely certain how to categorize the architecture of this church, which has a certain New England style to it.

Churches of the West: United Methodist Church, Worland Wyoming:
The United Methodist Church in Worland Wyoming. This Church fits into the Gothic Architecture category, but like a lot of churches in this region of Wyoming, it has some Romanesque features as well.

The Cheyenne State Leader for November 28, 1916: Villa captures Chihuahua and moves north.
Villa was appearing quite resurgent, grim news for those hoping for a resolution to the border situation.
And a sugar plant was going in at Worland. . . where one still exists. Elsewhere, the State Engineer was arguing for aid to settlers in an early economic development effort.
And the state's water contest against Colorado was making daily news.

Monday at the Bar: Courthouses of the West: Washakie County Courthouse, Worland Wyoming
Courthouses of the West: Washakie County Courthouse, Worland Wyoming:
This is the Washakie County Courthouse in Worland, Wyoming. The Courthouse dates from the early 1950s (1954, I think). It's a classically styled courthouse, with a single large courtroom. I've tried one case in this courthouse, some years ago.
Entrance to the adjoining jail, which is a substantial structure, mostly from the same era, itself.
A somewhat visually jarring feature of this courthouse is the small Chamber of Commerce building on the corner. That structure oddly has the appearance of a 1950s vintage drive in restaurant, and its my suspicion that it was. I wonder if it might have predated the building of the courthouse which, together with the jail, takes up the entire block.
Large American Indian monument, carved from a substantial block of Douglas fir, on courthouse grounds.
