Samuel Watkins, Confederate volunteer from Tennessee and author of the well known Co. Aytch died at age 62, his health broken from the Civil War and Reconstruction.
Omitted from his memoir is that he came from a well to do slaveholding family and his father held 100 such enslaved people.
