President McKinley's condition worsened and it became event to all that he was on death's door and he would not recover. At 8:00 he fell asleep and would never wake up.
Harrison Hall, a mountain guide of 50 years of age, was detailed to find Vice President Roosevelt, who was camping. His hike to locate TR took fourteen hours. As it was night, Roosevelt determined, quite correctly, it was best to remain the night and return the following day.
