Wednesday, December 8, 1875. Johnson, then Pease County, Wyoming created.

Today In Wyoming's History: December 8: 1875  Territorial Governor Thayer approves an act creating Pease County, which was later renamed Johnson County.

The county, at the time, was named for Dr. E. L. Pease of Uinta County.  In 1879 it was renamed for E. P. Johnson, a Cheyenne attorney.

Frankly, both of these names are pretty much in the "m'eh" category.
