Saturday September 10, 1921 “Any man who can look at the short- skirted, bare-kneed, frizzle-headed, gum-chewing, fudge-eating modern flapper without having a mortal blow out, should get a government pension"

On this day in 1921, a flash flood on the Brazos River in Texas killed 215 people, a bridge collapse in Chester Pennsylvania killed 34 people, and 38 people were killed in a train derailment in Paris.

The north face of the Eiger was climbed for the first time.

Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle was arrested and charged, and his films pulled from the theaters.

Quebec's Chronicle Telegraph blamed parents for "flapper styles", in an interview quoting evangelist Billy Sunday.  In the article, Sunday declared:

Any man who can look at the short- skirted, bare-kneed, frizzle-headed, gum-chewing, fudge-eating modern flapper without having a mortal blow out, should get a government pension
