It's almost October.

I note that due to the surprise about the snowstorm in Montana.

It is a big storm.  I don't doubt that.

Sage Grouse season (we usually call them "sage chickens") starts in mid September in Wyoming.  When I was young I always worried that we wouldn't be able to get up to the high country where we hunted them (and I still do), due to snow.  It seemed like it was about a 50/50 proposition, although it likely probably wasn't.

What could be assured is that it was going to be cold.

And it was, frankly, this year.

Actually the weather was likely much, more or less, like it was when I was young.  And so the threat of snow is as well.
