Oh really?
People are so acclimated to saying this phrase that they say it irrespective of reality.
This summer, here, has simply not happened.
It was a cold spring, followed by a cold early summer. We had about three weeks, at most, of normal summer weather, which wasn't all that hot, followed by fall.
August has been freezing. Summer here is over.
It's been an odd summer, weather wise, to say the least.
Which still hasn't kept people in the elevator from looking over, on a day that's in the 50s and drizzly, and saying "it sure has been hot!"
