Cliff Notes of the Zeitgeist Part 2, More random observations of the times.

Holding up Haaland. . . and others.

Senator Lummis is threatening to oppose Deb Haaland's appointment of the Secretary of the Interior until the Biden Administration comes to the table, in the words of the Tribune, on oil and gas production on Federal lands.

Senator Barrasso is apparently taking the same approach as to additional Biden appointees.

The thing that's not clear to me is the extent to which they can do this.  As they're in the minority, holding up appointees depends on the rules of the Senate, which have been based on traditional Senate collegiately, something that's now largely absent.

Pearl Milling Company?

Some time ago we ran this item:

Lex Anteinternet: Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben and Mrs. Buttersworth depar...: Back on May 2, before we ended up wherever we currently are on the national timeline, I posted an item about the departure of Mia from the L...

The Aunt Jemima Brand will now be Pearl Milling Company.  Apparently that was the name of the flour mill where the flour for what became the former brand was first milled.

Sister Andre

Sister Andre, a retired nun in France, who was born a Protestant, coverted to Cathoicism at age 19 and work in hospitals for 28 years before becoming a nun at age 40, has survived COVID 19.

While that may not seem remarkable at first, she also survived the 1918 Flu Pandemic. She's 117 years old.
