More photos of children with bird houses, participating in a contest sponsored by the American Forestry Association, were photographed on this day in 1921.  Included in the photos were ones of two boys climbing a tree to hand a very natural looking bird house.

In the English Channel, the British submarine the K5 sank with the loss of all hands.

The K5 was a British K Class submarine which was a class of wartime British submarine designed for the conditions of the North Sea. The design made them unstable in dives.  They were further an oddity in that they were a steam engine submarine when running on the surface rather than a diesel engine submarine.  In spite of their deficiencies, they were kept in service until the early 1930s.

Turkey adopted its first modern constitution, although it was only in effect for three years.
