I've almost quit blogging on national politics as its become simply impossible to keep up with the latest this or that.
Okay, that's not true.
It's partially true, but the bigger truth is that it has become too dispiriting and mind numbing.
If a person is a certain type of conservative, there's actually a lot to be happy about regarding the current administration. People who are opposed to regulations on a large scale, for example, have particular reason to be pleased as they've truly taken a hit. Judicial appointments, save for one really odd recent example, have been good. And some course corrections on foreign policy are no doubt welcomed.
But, at the same time, this all seems to oddly be occurring nearly independently of the President. It probably isn't, but it has that appearance.
Instead, in terms of appearance, we get the example of the President referring to certain nations as shitholes and wondering out loud why we don't take in more immigrants from places like Norway.
Eh?
No matter what a person thinks our immigration policy should be, referring to another country as a shithole is appalling.
How did we get to the state where an educated man calls a place, in conversation, a shithole?
Now, it's no secret that Donald Trump uses vulgar speech.
But at one time using that kind of speech would disqualify a person from holding public office, quite frankly.
And furthermore, educated people just wouldn't use it.
Another evolution in modern society that we should all consider, and lament.
And this doesn't go to the bigger issue that's on everyone's mind, of course. This is distressing.
