Best Posts of the Week for the week of April 21, 2024.

 It was a week dominated by war, in every sense.  Past tense, and current.

The US was edging towards a war over a sense of wounded honor in Mexico.

Monday, April 21, 1914. The Battle of Veracruz commences.


The Free French, who didn't control continental France, gave French women the right to vote.




We were reminded that some of the horrors of modern American politics have been with us for awhile.


A famous baseball park opened.



We suggested an option for Ukraine.


We called out some people on cowardice or ignorance.



It was an interesting week for court watchers, and a horrifying one for those concerned about the populist assault on the republic.


We called people out for cowardice again.


We tried to rectify a dishonor to the state, and failed.


And so earlier training will go to waste.



And so the stain on the state, and partially on the nation, was not relieved.


We recalled an actual forgotten battle from an actually forgotten war, fought by National Guardsmen who signed up to fight somebody else.



Uranium mining is coming back after a long absence.
