While the county was replacing a bridge last fall, I had to drive on a detour that went by a small canola field.

Overnight, some feral hogs got into that field and rooted up almost every canola plant on about 20 acres. It's hard to describe unless you see it, but it looked like someone had driven a bulldozer around in circles on the field with the tracks tearing up the ground as the driver veered back and forth.

Until I saw that damage, I never really thought they could be THAT destructive. They haven't reached the farm yet, but I'm always on the lookout for any sort of hog sign so I can try to control them before they get out of control.

Wow! I'm sure glad they aren't up here. Because of our lack of cover, I doubt they could make it up here, and I sure don't wan them around.

I have to admit that "American Hogger", the television show about the hog hunting Campbell family of Texas is a guilty pleasure of mine. I watch very little television, and the show is just silly, but it's hard not to watch it.
